This AASHTO training course was developed to educate and expose transportation practitioners to Multi-Objective Decision Analysis (MODA). Transportation agency decision-making today is quite complex; agencies must weigh investment decisions across numerous transportation performance management areas. This course describes in detail how an agency might implement MODA as an approach to help tackle those kinds of important decisions.

This 1.5 hour course is meant to introduce transportation agency employees to the Highway Performance Management System (HPMS) and its relation to TPM. The course curriculum covers both how HPMS supports TPM and how TPM supports HPMS. The class also extensively covers all of the data and reporting requirements associated with HPMs.

This 6.5-hour online course is designed to help agencies, both State DOTs and MPOs, further understand developing and setting performance targets. The curriculum covers existing practices in target setting, the purpose of target setting, the data required and the factors to account for in target setting, and how to track and report progress.

"Investment Decision Making and TPM" teaches participants the basic concepts of using TPM to strengthen investment decision making. It also introduces the multi-objective decision analysis (MODA) framework and demonstrates how MODA can be used to optimize investment allocation. The online course takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

"Data for TPM" is a 90-minute online course that introduces agencies to the legislation and regulation related to TPM data management. The course outlines a number of topics regarding the topic—including gathering the data required for TPM, prepping data for different audiences, identifying methods to deliver data, and addressing data quality.

This two-hour online course introduces all the basic concepts of performance measurement in the context of TPM. The course outline features five lessons—titled "Performance Measures Overview," "FHWA and Performance Measures," "Criteria for Developing Effective Performance Measures," "Data, Tools, and Analysis," and "Using Performance Measurement Information."

This course provides a complete overview of the transportation planning process for transportation professionals. The overview covers all of the legislative requirements, the content and purpose of existing transportation plans, and the steps to implementing a performance-based approach to planning and programming.

This one-hour online training course provides a time efficient way for agencies to understand the nuances of communicating and reporting on TPM. The course offers interactive features (e.g knowledge checks) to engage its audience. The goal of the course is for participants to understand how TPM increases transparency and accountability, how data analysis can be implemented for transportation performance, the differences between internal and external reporting of TPM, and the landscape of additional TPM resources currently available.

This NHI course is a one-hour online training course designed to introduce course participants to the implementation of performance-based planning and programming (PBPP). Upon completion of the course, participants will understand the connection of TPM and PBPP, the rationale behind PBPP from a policy perspective, the importance of setting a strategic direction in the PBPP framework, the nuances of aligning statewide and national goals, and more.

This one-day NHI course is a condensed version of Transportation Performance Management for Safety. The curriculum first offers an explanation of safety performance management's relation to performance-based planning. The class then breaks down each of the key TPM elements of safety performance: measures, data, target setting, resource allocation, and reporting.

This course is designed to help agencies improve management and use of data to meet TPM requirements of 23 CFR 490, MAP-21, and FAST. This data management course can also be useful for agencies that wish to undertake improvements at all stages of the data life cycle.

In order to help transportation agencies better understand TPM federal regulations and requirements, USDOT and FHWA have created the video series, "TPM Essentials." The series comprises 18 short clips; each focuses on a specific aspect of federal TPM. The entire series can be found on FHWA's website here or on Youtube here.

"How TPM and Asset Management Work Together" describes in detail the relationship between TPM and Asset Management—showing how the application of TPM can help optimize your agency's asset management. Additionally, the video defines the role of the TAMP in implementing TPM.

Transportation practitioners in this course will learn to calculate pavement performance measures, establish pavement performance targets, report pavement performance, and assess progress toward achieving pavement performance targets. This course centers around a featured powerpoint presentation. Each slide has an accompanying voice-over to help you understand the concepts of focus.
